JIM RISWOLD
'LIL HITLER (1918)

Before he was the Adolf Hitler, Adolf Hitler was Corporal Adolf Hitler of the 16th
Bavarian Reserve Regiment during World War One.

He was present in a number of major battles, including the First Battle of Ypres,
the Battle of the Somme, the Battle of Arras and the Battle of Passchendaele.
He was primarily a message runner, a relatively safe job based at
regimental headquarters.

Hitler was decorated twice for bravery.
He received the relatively common Iron Cross, Second Class,
in 1914 and the Iron Cross, First Class, in 1918.

Hugo Gutmann, a Jewish adjutant, recommended Hitler for
the Iron Cross, First Class.

On September 18, 1922, Hitler threw down a challenge to a defeated Germany:

“It cannot be that two million Germans should have fallen in vain…
No, we do not pardon, we demand—vengeance!”

23 years later, 4,450,000 more German soldiers were dead.
